Super affordable at just $11 a pop, way cheaper than brewery tours in the US like Yuengling or Sierra Nevada.
+
Dive into Hungary's oldest continuously running brewery for a legit historic vibe that's rarer than your standard American craft spots.
+
Hands-on tour with expert guides and tastings of unique local brews you won't find stateside – perfect beer geek heaven.
+
Pécs is a chill, underrated city with UNESCO vibes, making it a cool side trip from Budapest without massive crowds.
+
Easy to reach by frequent trains from Budapest (about 3 hours) or driving on good highways – public transport scores high for us tourists.
+
Weekly Saturday slots from 10am-noon fit nicely into travel plans, and weekdays for bigger groups add flexibility.
+
Small-group feel with advance booking keeps it personal, unlike packed tours at places like Heineken in Amsterdam.
Cons
–
Not family-friendly at all with the beer tastings – leaves kids or teetotalers out in the cold.
–
Pécs isn't a household name for American tourists like Prague or Munich, so it might feel like a hidden gem hunt.
–
No mention of English tours, so Hungarian skills (or a translation app) probably needed, which could be a hassle.
–
Kicks off in 2026 only, so if you're heading to Hungary sooner, you'll have to miss out.
