Easter Weekend Kickoff: Family Days & Bambi Musical
On April 4, the Húsvéti Családi Nap (Easter Family Day) at Forrás Gyermek és Ifjúsági Ház brings joyful activities for kids and parents; tickets $5.50. That same day, catch Bambi – bábmusical húsvéti különkiadás (Bambi: Puppet Musical Easter Special Edition), based on Felix Salten’s tale. Follow young fawn Bambi as he explores the forest, learns life’s lessons amid adventures, loses his mother, and grows up raised by his father, the Prince of the Forest. Revamped in two acts with stunning visuals and catchy tunes, directed by Szűcs Réka for its 10th anniversary. Also on April 4, FISH! rocks Broadway Monkey Music Hall with guests Bankrupt and Kozmosz. Running April 4-5, the VII. Hungarikum Piknik celebrates values, traditions, and gastronomy, toasting Eger Bikavér (Bull’s Blood) – Hungary’s first red wine to earn hungarikum status in 2017.
Art Explosions: Photo Legends & Visual Design
From March 31 to April 5, the Mindhárom exhibition spotlights three world-famous Hungarian-born photographers who revolutionized the field: André Kertész (most successful), László Moholy-Nagy (most valuable), and Robert Capa (most famous). Their rare, iconic works go on display in Eger. Meanwhile, Vizuális kommunikáció tervezése időben és térben & A fiatal festészet-szobrászat-grafika showcases 120 posters and animations from V4 universities’ art schools, highlighting cutting-edge visual communication. April 6 delivers Húsvét az Egri Várban (Easter at Eger Castle) with a whirlwind of family programs at Dobó István Vármúzeum (Dobó István Castle Museum). On April 10, Sportolók a reflektorfényben (Athletes in the Spotlight) features Kiss Norbi (seven-time European champion racer, Hungary’s most successful race car driver ever) and Tóth Krisztián Márk.
