
On May 9, 2026, Pákozd’s Military Memorial Park on Mészeg Hill will throw open its gates for Memorial Sites Day with free, all-day programs that make history visible—and tasty. The headline theme, Battle Tastes (Hadiízek), serves up a deep dive into what soldiers ate, how supplies reached the front, and how military rations evolved from antiquity to today.

Living History, All Day
From 10:00 to 16:00, reenactors will stage static and dynamic displays: life in the trenches, camp routines, and field dining. Partners include the Hungarian Artillery Association and the Károly Kratochvil Military Secondary School and College from Debrecen. The Polgár Military Technology Collection will showcase artifacts of military dining.
Family-Friendly Extras
Kids can dive into HADI-HAMI, a creative play zone packed with games and challenges, from 10:00 to 16:00. Outdoor guided tours start at 10:00, 12:00, and 15:00. Admission to all programs is free.
