Karcag fires up its beloved Karcagi Birkafőző Fesztivál (Karcag Sheep-Cooking Festival) on June 26–27, 2026, at Museum Park, 5300 Karcag, 4 Kálvin Street. The city celebrates its Cumani-style sheep-cooking tradition, added to Hungary’s national register of intangible cultural heritage in 2009. Every year on the last Saturday of June, Karcag hosts a spirited sheep-cooking competition—and this edition brings kid-friendly programs, concerts, and plenty of surprises at one of the region’s favorite food festivals.
