2026 Event Highlights

Kick off on April 4, 2026 (Saturday) with Fairy Tale Path and Night Labyrinth (Meseösvény és Éjszakai labirintus) – where the world looks totally different in the dark as you adventure through the planet’s third-largest maze, lit only by starlight! That same day, catch the STIHL Timbersports and Chainsaw Masters Day amid flying sawdust. Easter weekend (April 4-6) keeps the Csillagösvény Labirintus wide open for thrill-seekers, families, and nature lovers – wander hedge maze paths, uncover hidden trails, and soak up spring Easter vibes in the puszta’s heart.
On April 5, join the Birdwatching Day. April 6 brings Szeri Easter (Szeri Húsvét). May 2 features another Night Labyrinth (Éjszakai labirintus) adventure under the stars. May 16 is perfect for Picnic on the Plain (Pusztán egy piknik program) at the Öko Élménypark – families and friends enjoy diverse activities in a cozy setting. May 24 repeats the starry Night Labyrinth. May 25 hosts Pentecost Celebration (Pünkösdölő).
June 27 combines Night Labyrinth (Éjszakai labirintus) with Fire Jump (Tűzugrás). The big one: July 3-5 marks the XII. National Assembly of Hungarians (Magyarok Országos Gyűlése). July 11 Night Labyrinth. August 8 Night Labyrinth (Éjszakai Labirintus). August 20 Fairy Tale Path (Meseösvény) for a chill family day. September 6 Sculpture Park Farewell (Szobori búcsú). September 12 picnic redux. October 24 Night Labyrinth. Halloween on October 31 doubles up: carve the scariest pumpkin, then brave the dark maze paths if you’re gutsy enough, plus the usual starry labyrinth thrills.

Pros
+
This place is a total blast for families, with mazes, fairy tale paths, Easter egg hunts, picnics, and Halloween pumpkin carving that keep kids and parents grinning all day.
+
The Star Path Labyrinth Ecopark rocks as Hungary's first themed hedge maze – it's the planet's third-largest and insanely fun at night under the stars, way cooler than basic corn mazes back home.
+
Packed 2026 lineup from April to October means endless variety, like chainsaw masters, birdwatching, fire jumps, and cultural fests, perfect for mixing adventure and chill vibes.
+
On-site forest guesthouses with family and wellness options, plus cafes slinging coffees, wines, and quick bites, make it super easy to base your trip here without hassle.
+
No Hungarian skills required – everything's visual puzzles, games, and nature walks that anyone can jump into, with tourist-friendly setups in the historical park.
+
Beats similar US spots like theme park mazes or state fairs by blending Hungarian puszta history, eco-adventures, and unique events at way cheaper prices and smaller crowds.
+
Easy nature immersion in the massive 55-hectare park feels like a peaceful escape compared to overcrowded Disney lines.
Cons
Ópusztaszer flies way under the radar for US tourists – most folks stick to Budapest, so discovering it feels like a hidden gem but requires extra planning.
Public transport's a pain from major cities; renting a car or joining a tour from Szeged is smarter, as it's rural puszta without direct trains or buses.
Some events like the National Assembly of Hungarians lean super local and cultural, potentially losing non-Hungarian speakers on the nuances.
