March 31: Rokonok Theater Hit
Catch Rokonok (Relatives), a two-act play by Hevesi Sándor Várszínház on March 31 at 7pm. It’s the fourth show in the 2025/2026 Festetics season subscription: $60 or $71 for four shows, single tickets $18 or $21. This cornerstone of Hungarian literature skewers society without stooping to the level of a pamphlet—it delves into power’s pitfalls and the soul’s twisted paths. Hidden loves, messy marriages, family blackmail and emotional extortion pave the road from self-assertion to self-destruction. Young Kopjáss István, a clean-cut guy with empty pockets but big world-saving ideas, gets elected chief prosecutor in Zsarátnok against a corrupt rival. But the job brings power for good—and a swarm of old and new “relatives.” Packed with twists, rich characters and drama, it’s a meaty night out.
April 1: Pierrot és Prigozsin Shenanigans
Philosophers and clowns on a human hunt! Kettőspont Színház’s free 110-minute show Pierrot és Prigozsin az élet forgatagában (Pierrot and Prigozsin in the Whirl of Life) hits Keszthely on April 1 at 7pm as part of their nationwide tour, backed by Kétfarkú Kutyapárt’s 3. Rózsa Sándor Népi Kampánypénz Tékozló Alapítvány. Pierrot (Ács Tamás) and Prigozsin (Formanek Csaba) push artistic boundaries to touch souls, but lack a third to give it meaning. Inspired by François Truffaut’s Jules and Jim (Jules et Jim), written and directed by Formanek from Ács’s ideas, it unfolds a quirky love triangle, timeless friendship and two rollercoaster lives in comic-tragic glory. For ages 14+, totally free.
April 2: Little Singers Japanese Choir Magic
Free entry to the Balaton Színház’s theater hall on April 2 at 5pm for the Little Singers kids’ choir from Japan. Formed in 1990 in Hyogo with 90 singers aged 4-21 in child, junior and senior groups, they blend Renaissance masters like Palestrina and Lassus with modern works by Michio Mamiya and Roe Ogura, plus Japanese folk and kids’ songs. They’ve toured Korea and the US since the early ’90s, Europe from 1996, hosted global choirs and built a 30-year bond with Keszthely’s Életfa Általános és Alapfokú Művészeti Iskola through cultural exchanges. Three-time gold winners at Japan’s national youth choir festival, they’re top-notch for pure tone and polish—Japanese-European choir fusion awaits.

Bernhard, the radical pessimist (1931-1989), railed against Austria and modern absurdity via obsessive stage heroes. This is like an epic theater stand-up blending raw pain, arrogance and unfiltered rants. Cast: Alföldi Róbert, Buza Tímea, László Lili, Németh Áron Valentin, Ficzere Béla. Adapted by Bíró Bence, sets by Kálmán Eszter, costumes by Juristovszky Sára, poster by Csáfordi László, assistant Skrabán Judit, directed by Pelsőczy Réka.
