The Sopron region and the picture-perfect shores of Lake Neusiedl (Fertő) fill the 2026 calendar with festivals, concerts, exhibitions, food events, outdoor tours, and family days—great in every season, whether you’re hiking in spring, festival-hopping in summer, or wine tasting in autumn. From Sarród to Hegykő, Fertőrákos, Balf, and beyond, the area stays lively with culture, nature, and easygoing adventures. Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs.
Spring kick-off: birds, maypoles, sunrise
April 29 in Sarród opens with Túzokles, a bustard-watching outing in the Fertő–Hanság. April 30 brings a traditional maypole raising in Hegykő (76 Kossuth Lajos Street). On May 1, Sopronkövesd hosts a sunrise hike and a Family May Day, while Hegykő’s May Day fills 76 Kossuth Lajos Street with classic holiday vibes. Also on May 1: the 11th Fertőszentmiklós City Running Day, Kógli Picnic in Harka, and May Day at the Quarry in Fertőrákos.
Lake Neusiedl (Fertő) by e-boat and canoe
Regular “By E-Boat on Lake Fertő” electric-boat cruises depart from Fertőrákos on May 2, 7, 14, 16, 21, 28, 30; June 4, 9, 11, 18, 20, 25. Slip into the reeds on the “Canoe Tour in the Reeds of Lake Fertő” from Balf on May 7, 14, 21, 28; June 16, 18, 23, 25.
Run, ride, roam
Hanyi Safari nature tours dot the calendar: May 8, 15, 22, 29; June 5, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26; July 1. Run the Panorama Run in Fertőrákos (1 Main Street) on May 10. Pedal “On the Route of the Chapels” on May 30 across Alpokalja’s cultural landmarks.
Wine, kids, music
Clink glasses at the St. Urban’s Day Wine Selection in Hegykő (74 Kossuth Lajos Street) on May 21. Children’s Day brightens Hegykő on June 7. The 1 Drop Festival brings three days of summer fun to Hegykő, June 12–14. On June 21, “Somewhere in America – Bon-Bon 30” lands in Fertőrákos, followed by the Roby Lakatos Gypsy Jazz Project in concert on June 27.
