Debrecen’s Déri Museum throws open its doors daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Mondays), offering permanent galleries, hands-on education, and a slate of fresh, family-friendly programs at 1 Déri Square. Expect something for every age, from literary talks to heritage deep dives—easy culture, low stress, big payoff.

May Highlights

May 20 features a free book launch: DEBRECEN MADÁRVILÁGA (The Birdlife of Debrecen) by Ottó Veszelinov and László Demeter. Ecologist Dr. Csaba Aradi—honorary associate professor and retired director of Hortobágy National Park—will introduce the volume, followed by Veszelinov’s illustrated talk. Venue: the museum’s Grand Hall; no ticket needed.

On May 21, historian and chief curator Balázs Korompai presents an illustrated lecture on the correspondence of Lajos Zoltai, opening a window onto local history through letters.

Heritage and Ideas

May 27 marks the opening of Kunó Klebelsberg’s Legacy with a panel discussion. On May 28, archaeologist and museum director Dr. Szabolcs Rosta explores Árpád-era treasures from Pétermonostora in Bugac in an illustrated talk.

June Readings

June 3 brings The Prose Writer Reads: poet-novelist Sándor Attila Pál in conversation with media scholar András Előd Énekes. Free entry.
