Tiszafüred rolls out a busy 2026 with culture, food, sports, and open-air fun across multiple venues around Lake Tisza (Tisza-tó). Expect thermal baths, fishing, free beaches, and a calendar stacked with exhibitions, family days, concerts, workshops, and big races. The listings below highlight the dates, places, and recurring favorites that keep this lakeside town buzzing from spring to Christmas.
May: Exhibitions, Quizzes, and the Big Ride
May 7 kicks off with a Japanese sword exhibition and demo, the family-friendly Wonders Terrarium (Csodák Terráriuma), and Harlequin Puppet Theatre’s (Harlekin Bábszínház) The Double Bass Player’s Son and the Devils (A bőgős fia és az ördögök). On May 8, the Mayfly Eco and Active Tourist Center (Kérész Öko és Aktív Turisztikai Központ) hosts a quiz night.
May 9 is all about motion: Tour de Lake Tisza (Tour de Tisza-tó) invites riders to loop Hungary’s second-largest lake, joined by the BorsodChem Tour de Lake Tisza at Halas Square and Alfa Romeo Club Hungary’s Selénia Rally at the Tisza Balneum Hotel. Craft lovers can drop into the Míves Műhely workshop the same day.
Hands-on archaeology arrives May 15 with Be an Archaeologist! at Tiszaörvény’s Temple Hill (Templomdomb) and Morotva Bank (Morotvapart). On May 22, Kérész Activity mixes eco-fun and games, while May 22–23 brings Made in Hungária at Gyula Fényi Jesuit High School (Fényi Gyula Jezsuita Gimnázium). Families get their turn on May 23 at Bring Grandma and Grandpa to the Museum! at the László Darabos Ethnographic and Local History Exhibition (Darabos László Néprajzi és Helytörténeti Kiállítás). Children’s Day rounds out the month on May 31.
June: Cars, Culture, and Night at the Museum
June 4 marks the Day of National Unity at Halas Square. Auto fans meet June 6 for the 2nd Tiszafüred American Car and Tuning Meet, also at Halas Square. Archaeology returns June 13 with a volunteer community dig. Museum Night on June 20 turns the Endre Tariczky Archaeological Exhibition (Tariczky Endre Régészeti Kiállítás) into a family hub. June 26–28 brings Summer Evening Concerts on the Main Square, and June 27 repeats the multigenerational museum tour at Endre Tariczky.
July–August: Peak Season Festivals
July 3–5 stages the Ultra Lake Tisza (Ultra Tisza-tó) running race weekend. July 9–11, Lake Tisza Fest (Tisza-tó Feszt) delivers lakeside music and parties, followed by the Hungarian Lakes Festival on July 31–August 2. Try new sports at the August 8 Sports Selector in the B.G.V. Sports Hall. DJ Tour Fest lights up the Morotva Peninsula August 13–16. August 20 brings State Foundation Day with another Bring Grandma and Grandpa to the Museum! at the László Darabos collection, an American Car and Tuning Meet at Halas Square, and Summer Evening Concerts August 20–22. Tiszavégi Day closes the month on August 30.
Autumn: Heritage, Harvest, and Dance
September 11 revives Be an Archaeologist! in Tiszaörvény; September 18 teaches harvest traditions to kindergarten and primary students at the Gáspár Nyúzó Pottery Country House (Nyúzó Gáspár Fazekas Tájház). A Táncház folk dance night hits the Lake Tisza AMI Headquarters on September 25, while September 26 hosts another volunteer dig. World Tourism Day lands on September 27. October 6 commemorates the Martyrs of Arad; October 23 features 1956 remembrances and a family museum day at the Pál Kiss Museum (Kiss Pál Múzeum). A torchlit march follows on November 4, then a Family Memorial Day at the Old Cemetery on November 7. Saint Martin’s Day for kindergartners is November 11 at Endre Tariczky, with more Táncház on November 21 and Advent crafting on November 27.
Advent: Candles, Markets, and Old-Time Christmas
Advent opens November 29 with the First Candle on the Main Square and Tiszafüred Advent running through December 20. Kids meet Santa at the Pál Kiss Museum on December 4. Candles two to four light up the Main Square on December 6, 13, and 20. Expect more crafting on December 11 at Endre Tariczky, folk dance with the Lake Tisza AMI Youth Ensemble on December 12, plus an Advent producers’ and craft fair December 12–13. On December 18, the Pál Kiss Museum brings Christmas in the 19th Century to life for kids.
