Veszprém’s Archbishopric is gearing up for a packed 2026 lineup full of exhibitions, concerts, family and children’s events, guided tours, thematic hikes, educational talks, special holiday celebrations, and church gatherings. Expect events at various locations in 8200 Veszprém, starting April 3.
Guided Castle Walks
These tours start from the Biró-Giczey House at Castle Street (Vár utca) 31, showcasing the Castle District’s top sights: St. Michael’s Cathedral, Gisela Chapel (Gizella-kápolna), St. George’s Chapel (Szent György-kápolna), and the Archbishop’s Palace. On Friday, April 3 (10am-6pm), walks start at 10:30am (Archbishop’s Palace and Gisela Chapel) and 4pm (St. Michael’s Cathedral, its crypt, and St. George’s Chapel). On Saturday, April 4 (10am-6pm), a 2pm slot (Palace and Gisela Chapel) is added, alongside 10:30am and 4pm. On Sunday, April 5 (10am-6pm), the schedule repeats at 10:30am, 2pm, and 4pm.
Easter Sunday Mass
On April 5, join the 10:30am-12pm Easter Sunday Mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral, featuring the St. Michael’s Choir and Mendelssohn’s musical service.
Palace Concert & More
April 10 brings a palace concert in the Archbishop’s Palace. On April 11, head to Litér for a commemoration of Blessed Mária Magdolna Bódi (Bódi Mária Magdolna).
Kids’ Biblical Role-Play
Children aged 7-10 are invited back for the Biblical role-play series to build social skills and emotional intelligence. Sessions take place on Sundays at the Archbishop’s Office Gisela Hall, Jutai Street (Jutasi út) 18/2: February 15, March 1, 15, 29, April 12, and 26.
Library Tour & Organ Concert
April 14 marks World Librarians’ Day with a guided tour of the Koller Library. At 7:30pm on April 15, Martin Baker and Tamás Kéméndi team up for an organ subscription concert in St. Michael’s Cathedral.
Mindszenty Homecoming Walk
On Friday, April 17 at 3:20pm, a guided walk from the Courthouse to the Castle Prison Visitor Center traces Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty’s (József Mindszenty) return from Arrow Cross captivity, led by Fr. Dr. Balázs Csernai (Csernai Balázs). Free, but register early—limited to the first 20 spots.
Monument Day & Choir Jubilee
April 18 celebrates World Day for Monuments and Sites with a specialist tour led by Veronika Nagy (Nagy Veronika) and Gábor G.-Kovács (G.-Kovács Gábor). On April 19, the St. Michael’s Children’s Choir serves at the 10:30am Cathedral Mass, followed by a short concert marking their third anniversary.
