Veszprém’s Archdiocese (Érsekség) is gearing up for a packed 2026 schedule starting April 3, with exhibitions, concerts, family and children’s programs, guided tours, thematic hikes, educational lectures, holiday celebrations, and church events across multiple spots in the 8200 postcode area. Expect something for everyone in this vibrant lineup of spiritual and cultural happenings in Veszprém’s Castle District and beyond.
Guided Castle Walks
These tours start from the Biró–Giczey House at Vár utca 31, showcasing the district’s top sights: St. Michael’s Cathedral, Gisella Chapel (Gizella-kápolna), St. George’s Chapel, and the Archbishop’s Palace. They run daily from 10:00 to 18:00.
On Friday, April 3: 10:30 (Archbishop’s Palace and Gisella Chapel) and 16:00 (St. Michael’s Cathedral, crypt, and St. George’s Chapel).
Saturday, April 4: 10:30 (Archbishop’s Palace and Gisella Chapel), 14:00 (same), and 16:00 (St. Michael’s Cathedral, crypt, and St. George’s Chapel).
Sunday, April 5: same times and routes as April 4.
Easter Sunday Mass
On April 5 from 10:30-12:00, join the Easter Sunday Mass in St. Michael’s Cathedral, featuring the St. Michael’s Choir and music by Mendelssohn.
Palace Concert & Commemorations
On April 10, enjoy a palace concert in the Archbishop’s Palace. On April 11, a Litér-style commemoration of Blessed Bódi Mária Magdolna.
Biblical Role-Playing for Kids
Kids aged 7-10 are invited back for the Biblical Role-Playing series, which builds social skills and emotional intelligence. Held on Sundays in Gizella Hall at the Archbishop’s Office, Jutasi út 18/2: February 15, March 1, 15, 29, April 12, and 26.
Library Tour & Organ Concert
April 14: Guided tour of the Koller Library for World Librarians’ Day. On April 15 at 19:30, Martin Baker and Tamás Kéméndi team up for an organ concert in the cathedral as part of the Philharmonia’s organ subscription series.
Mindszenty Homecoming Walk
On April 17 at 15:20, a free guided walk (registration required, first 20 spots) from the Courthouse to the Castle Prison Visitor Center, led by Dr. Balázs Csernai, marking Cardinal Mindszenty’s return from Arrow Cross captivity.
Monument Day & Children’s Choir
April 18: Specialist-guided tour with Veronika Nagy and Gábor G.-Kovács for World Monument Protection Day. April 19: St. Michael’s Children’s Choir sings at the 10:30 Mass in the cathedral, followed by a short jubilee concert for their third anniversary.
