dónde: 5500 Gyomaendrőd

Gyomaendrőd is packing 2026 with festivals, concerts, markets, heritage days, and open-air nights that spill from museums into meadows. From cauldron feasts and midnight sports to star-watching boat rides on the Triple Körös (Hármas-Körös), the town has something going nearly every weekend. Here’s the year at a glance, with dates, venues, and standout reasons to go.

June kicks off with food, crafts, and free fitness

June 6 brings the 22nd Cauldron Day beside the Rózsahegyi House, a community cookout celebrating big-pot flavors and friendly rivalry. June 12 pulls double duty. At the Körös Visitor Center, the Handicraft Fair lines up soy-wax candles, ceramics, bath salts, honey gingerbread, farmhouse cheeses, Easter gifts, cordials, jewelry, handmade soaps, jams, crochet amigurumi, and bath bombs. That same night, the free Night of Movement gets the whole town exercising after dark.
June 13 brings St. Anthony’s Day to the St. Anthony Bakery House (Szent Antal Pékház), plus Vivat Musica! — a summer recital by young violin virtuoso Kende Paraizs, accompanied by pianist Bence Szabó. The National Livestock and Flea Market returns June 14, a regular staple for bargain hunters and breeders alike.

Books, a prince, and a moving exhibit

On June 16, ethnophotography steps into the spotlight: the reissued volumes Ancient Structures (Ősépítmények) and Shepherds (Pásztoremberek) by National Artist and Kossuth and Balogh Rudolf Prize–winning photographer László Kunkovács are introduced by ethnographer Imre Harangozó, with Mária Angster contributing. Note: Kunkovács will not attend. On June 17, “Rákóczi 350” — a mobile exhibition on the 350th birthday of Prince Francis II Rákóczi (II. Rákóczi Ferenc) — opens 9:00–16:00 at the Ferenc Kállai Integrated Cultural Institution and Cultural House (Kállai Ferenc), with free entry.

Fire, museums, and midsummer magic

June 20 is all flame and folklore. The 3rd St. John’s Night Bacon-Roasting Picnic and Fire-Jumping revives solstice traditions at Csicsergő, co-hosted by the Kállai Cultural House and the Csicsergő Water Tour Stop. That same evening through midnight, Museum Night spans four venues — the Béla Vidovszky City Gallery, the Kner Printing Museum, the Csicsergő Water Tour Stop, and the Gyomaendrőd Civil Protection Base — with guided tours, concerts, and creative workshops from 17:00 to 24:00.
On June 23, magician Gyula Moltész (Mollini) brings comic illusions and kid-participation tricks; tickets are 500 HUF (about USD 1.36). On June 25, the library party returns with Imre Hevesi, 10:00–11:00 at the Győző Határ City Library. June 27 doubles up: St. John’s Night fire-jumping at the Csicsergő Water Tour Stop and fishing lodge, plus OMART Musical Summer 3 — the 3rd Elizabeth Concert by the Gyomaendrőd Music Friends Chamber Choir — and an art opening of paintings by Lillis Boros and Netti Boros at OMart Bookshop & Cultural Workshop.

Memory days and riverside evenings

June 28 marks the Day of the Persecution of Kulaks, with a commemoration on Heroes’ Square, echoed again June 29 at the same site. July settles into “Körös Riverside Evenings” at Elisabeth Grove (Erzsébet liget) on July 4, 11, and 18 — relaxed culture under trees in the heart of town. On July 11, OMART Musical Summer 4, “We fly in the spring of our hearts,” features performers Zoltán Kiszely and Nicolette Merényi; July 12 brings back the National Livestock and Flea Market. On July 25, violinist Kende Paraizs headlines “Summer, tango, love” at OMart.

Beetles, buses, and a soaking parade

July 30 to August 2, the 30th Gyomaendrőd Volkswagen Beetle and Bus Party sets up at the leafy Liget Spa and Camping — Hungary’s largest VW meet. Expect four days of rare rides and the festival’s signature city parade with deliberate splashing and spraying, equal parts spectacle and cool-down.

Wishes on water and August traditions

August 7, the 11th Night of Shooting Stars spreads across meadow and water. The free program offers meteor-watching and an outdoor film, with a telescope available. For a fee, hop a stargazing night cruise to take in the sky from the Triple Körös (Hármas-Körös). The buffet stays open throughout. August 9 welcomes another National Livestock and Flea Market. On August 15, OMART Musical Summer 6, “An evening at the spinning room,” introduces the Vésztő Spinning-Room Women’s Zither Ensemble (Vésztői Fonó).
August 20 celebrates King St. Stephen and the Festival of New Bread in Elisabeth Grove (Erzsébet liget), followed August 21 by the 28th Gyomaendrőd International Fish Cooking Competition at the same venue. On August 22, spiritual teacher László Ambrusz unpacks “The physical, emotional, and spiritual causes of our illnesses” at OMart. August 28 commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács.

Harvest art, history talks, and autumn lights

September 5 stirs the pots at the 10th Plum Jam Cooking Day at the St. Anthony People’s House (Szent Antal). On September 8, the library hosts a Late-Summer Soirée with music. September 12 opens an etching exhibition by Bella Rózsa at OMart and the 10th “Visiting Neighbors,” with Dr. Béla Kovács presenting Endrőd’s story under the line “A late descendant sees nothing…”. September 13 repeats the National Livestock and Flea Market. From September 21–26, the 19th Gyomaendrőd László Holló Art Camp fills the St. Anthony People’s House with working artists. On September 26, OMART Musical Summer 7 features the Regélő Fehér Táltos heritage drum ensemble.

Folk tales, martyrs, and pumpkin days

October 5 is Folk Tale Day at the library; October 6 commemorates the Martyrs of Arad at the Ferenc Kállai Cultural House. On October 10, writer Zsuzsanna Garay presents The Little Girl and the Scarecrow at OMart, tied to Folk Tale Day. October 11, the market returns. On October 17, the City Gallery hosts the Autumn Exhibition and a Family Pumpkin-Carving Day. October 20 revisits Ghana travel tales, “From machete to smartphone,” by popular request at OMart. October 23 marks the National Holiday. On October 24, the Confucius Institute Conference convenes at the St. Anthony People’s House (Szent Antal).

Pork, pálinka, and a festive wind-down

November 8 brings the market again. On November 13, History Class 4, “A chance for freedom?” with Albert Molnár, tackles 1956 at OMart. On November 20, “This is how we prepare” ushers in an Advent fair at the library, followed November 21 by the 17th Gyomaendrőd Pork Feast and the János Tímár Butcher’s Pálinka Memorial Competition at the Lajos Varga Sports Hall. November 24 adds an Advent Tuning session at the library, and November 28 opens a children’s drawing exhibition at OMart.
December 12, “Pictures at an Exhibition” features Concorde Talent Prize–winning accordionist Mihály Demeniv and friends at OMart. December 13 closes the year’s market cycle. Book a room, wander the museums, bring a towel for the splash parade — and keep an eye on the sky for wishes worth making.
