Kaposvár’s Bábszíntér Társulat rolls out a May packed with kid-friendly puppet fun at Vaszary Park, centered at 7400 Kaposvár, Fő utca (Main Street) 65–67. Families get open shows on Sundays, while schools and kindergartens enjoy special program days throughout the month.
Family Matinee Kicks Off
Sunday, May 10 starts with a Family Matinee: Figurás playtime at 10:00, then a puppet show at 11:00. Headliner: If Goose, Then Fat! (Ha lúd, legyen kövér!) by the Szigligeti Theatre (Szigligeti Színház) – Lilliput Company (Lilliput Társulat). Expect lively slapstick and classic Hungarian humor that lands with kids and grown-ups alike.
School Days, Classic Hero
From Monday to Friday, May 11–15, the Lázár Ervin Program brings closed school performances at 09:00 and 11:00, anchored by János Pályi’s Vitéz László and the Cursed Mill (Vitéz László és az elátkozott malom). The folk hero pops up across the week: Monday 09:00 and 11:00, Tuesday 09:00 and 11:00, Wednesday 09:00 and 11:00, Thursday 09:00 and 11:00, and Friday 09:00. On Sunday, May 17 at 11:30, the show travels for a touring performance in Tatabánya, then hits the road again Thursday, May 28 at 10:00 for a touring date in Kadarkút.
For Students With Season Passes
Tuesday, May 19 at 14:00 features a subscription performance for school groups: Márkus Theatre (MárkusZínház) presents The Wings of King Matthias (Mátyás király szárnyai), a playful take on Hungary’s legendary king.
Puppet Mobile Pops Into Kindergartens
The Puppet Mobile (Bábmobil) exhibition and play corner arrive Wednesday, May 27 at 10:00 at the Nemzetőr Sori Tagóvoda, then Friday, May 29 at 10:00 at the Tallián Utcai Tagóvoda—hands-on puppets, games, and photo-ready moments.
