Dates to circle

Thursday, May 21, 2026, kicks off with the opening of the “Pentecost Flower Dream” exhibition in Lamberg Castle’s inner courtyard. The stunning horticultural decorations are crafted by Mór’s educational institutions, and visitors can vote for their favorites through June 9. Then, from July 6–10, the “Kerekítem–Gombolyítom” craft camp invites kids to create and play. The story continues August 10–14 with a “Fairy Tale Camp,” designed to fire up imaginations at the height of summer.

Where you’ll be

Mór, the capital of a historic wine region in Central Transdanubia, sits where the Vértes and Bakony mountains meet. It’s a charming, livable small town with a deep winemaking heritage and a knack for easygoing escapes. Lamberg Castle itself anchors Szent István Square, making it a perfect launchpad for culture by day and tasting rooms by night.

Stay in style

In Mór’s center, tucked along a quiet street that’s been around for nearly 300 years, a regionally inspired boutique hotel offers 25 rooms and 5 apartments furnished with painted and carved Austrian pieces reminiscent of the local Swabian tradition. Some rooms switch the vibe with domestic old German furnishings, while an entire corridor revels in Neo-Baroque. Think time-travel chic, with today’s comforts.

If you prefer mountainside views, a wellness hotel on the town’s edge looks straight at the peaks and pairs modern elegance (credit the Austrian Voglauer furniture) with creature comforts: 31 rooms, 4 suites, a breakfast room, wellness section, and pool bar. The honeymoon room is a charmer—Austrian folk-style rustic furniture and a canopy bed dial up the romance. On the practical side, a guesthouse in downtown Mór’s wine region runs year-round with 1-, 2-, and 3-bed rooms, plus air-conditioned superior options with private bathrooms and TVs. There’s also an apartment unit with its own kitchen and bath that can take an extra bed. With capacity for 50, the property works for groups and includes a closed parking lot, an on-request valuables safe, free building-wide Wi‑Fi, and full accessibility with an elevator.

Budget-friendly and group-ready, the House of Serving Love—operated by the Mór Reformed Church—accommodates 39 guests year-round, providing bedding and towels. It’s ideal for forest-school programs in autumn, spring, and winter, and comes well equipped for hassle-free stays.

Eat and linger

At the Lovaspark equestrian inn, traditional Swabian specialties and hearty homemade dishes meet a strong lineup of local producers’ wines. The ambiance blends old Austrian interior style with half-timbered elements, layered with 150-year-old pine and crested bricks alongside modern materials for a rustic-modern glow. In the town center, ARA Restaurant serves year-round Monday to Saturday, 11:00–22:00, with garden seating when the weather behaves. For big gatherings, Ezerjó Restaurant—right opposite the Holy Cross Church—delivers a kitchen Mór knows and loves. It’s air-conditioned with a 100-seat main hall, 50-seat private room, and a winterized terrace for 45, suiting everything from cozy family lunches to weddings.

Wine, museums, and heritage

Mór lives and breathes wine. A family winery founded in 1991 cultivates 25 hectares and focuses on small-batch standouts rather than mass-market bottles—fresh, youthful, and aromatic wines alongside dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet styles, and curiosities. In cellars approaching 300 years old, they also tend and sell a museum-worthy collection of historic Mór wines. Their Wine Museum welcomes guests year-round for tastings, a tour of winemaking tools, and a peek into atmospheric cellars.

Younger energy arrives via a “Brigád” established in 2013 by a handful of enthusiastic winemakers, now farming 3 hectares with a focus on terroir expression and individuality. Tradition gets formal support from the local wine order, dedicated to strengthening the region’s grape- and winemaking values, maintaining professional standards, and fanning the flames of wine culture. They appear at St. George’s Day events, wine competitions, and investitures, co-organize the Mór Wine Days (Móri Bornapok), and keep ties alive with neighboring wine orders.

For a laid-back family feel, another cellar invites you with a mantra of wine, joy, sunsets, dogs, friends, and Ezerjó galore. Expect tastings, wine dinners, and team-building programs, with each glass framed as a snapshot of land and maker. Frey Cellar (Frey Pince), founded in 1993 and rooted in 300 years of Swabian wine culture, blends traditional and reductive methods for quality-first wines, centering on wine tourism in a heritage-listed cellar on Mór’s historic cellar row—tastings and cellar tours come with optional rustic cold platters.

New-school charm shows up at Friday Winery in the Csóka Vineyard, where an engineer couple work a 0.5-hectare plot into barrel-aged, California-leaning Ezerjó and Chardonnay, plus a sparkling Ezerjó perfect for more than just Friday nights. Tastings and bottle orders are available. And if you need expertise, local vintners offer vineyard and winemaking consultancy right in Mór.
