On June 6, 2026, the Csillagösvény Labyrinth Eco Adventure Park in Ópusztaszer flips into full fantasy mode for Pusztán Egy Piknik. After rain forced a delay, the party is back on with the same location, the same spark — and more dragons. Families and friends get a whole day of stories, music, food, crafts, and a nighttime labyrinth that breathes smoke and light. Bring your courage: there’s a seven-headed dragon to face, a dragon egg hunt to crack, and a Dragon Grove to explore for the first time. A second date lands on September 12, 2026, also in Ópusztaszer.
Where and when
The action unfolds at 6767 Ópusztaszer, Szoborkert Street 1. The new confirmed date is Saturday, June 6, 2026, with the same venue. Expect a sunrise-to-midnight flow; the organizers reserve the right to change timings and programs. A follow-up edition is set for September 12, 2026, again in Ópusztaszer.
Enter the Dragon Grove
For one day, the labyrinth becomes Sárkányliget (Dragon Grove). Think living folklore: tales, legends, and quests come alive on winding paths. Wander under trees, trace the footprints of mythical beasts, and help Süsü conquer the seven-headed dragon. If you’re bold enough, you can even draw a sword and square up yourself. The whole site shifts into a story world built for kids, grown-ups, and anyone who still loves a good legend.
Morning to afternoon highlights
At 10:45, a puppet theater sets the tone with a musical fable for all ages: King Matthias and the Truthful Shepherd Lad (Mátyás király és az igazmondó juhászlegény), performed by the Golden Fleece Troupe (Aranygyapjú Társulat) and inspired by Gyula Illés’s folk-tale twist. Expect medieval melodies and Renaissance tunes woven into a lively stage piece. Hands-on fun runs throughout the day: a dragon egg hunt turns the park into a treasure map; craft stations help you make your own little bag filled with dragon herbs; and a makers’ market brings local producers and their unique wares face to face with curious browsers.
Paper dragons and cosmic lore
From 14:00, paper dragons take flight. Bring your own kite for a group launch, then dive into Dragon Against Dragon (Sárkány ellen sárkány), the family quiz where dragons rule the questions. Myth meets astronomy: you’ll peek into the secrets of the Draco constellation, test your legends IQ, and battle for surprise prizes awarded to the top three teams. There’s also a paper-kite beauty contest, so get creative with tails, colors, and daring silhouettes.
Nostalgia hour with Tamás Subecz
At 15:00, Tamás Subecz — known as the Hungarian voice of Ferenc Demjén — pulls the summer sun a little closer with the atmosphere of the film How Could I Live Without You? (Hogyan tudnék élni nélküled?). Big hooks, velvet vocals, and a modern gloss on beloved classics set up a freewheeling sing-along under open skies. It’s unabashed nostalgia, turned up and remixed for the moment.
Fire after dark
As night falls, the sparks leap higher. Fire jugglers light up the grove with three spectacular sets at 20:30, 21:00, and 21:30. Then the labyrinth goes full nocturnal: fog coils low, lights flicker strangely, and the theme tilts deeper into dragon lore. With smoke, shadows, and secrets at every turn, the question becomes very simple: can you find the way out?
All-day soundtrack
DJ Kincses threads soothing rhythms through the day, setting a relaxed pulse between shows and sending strolls, picnics, and market wanders along on a mellow current. It’s the glue between the fables and the fire.
Eat and drink like legends
Kapca x Rézhárs Bistro arrives with serious credentials — Dining Guide Top 100 and Gault & Millau recommendations — and a menu built for roaming and sharing. Antique Caffé pours specialty coffees between dragon lairs. Classic kürtőskalács spirals from the embers, cocktails make a colorful cameo, and frosty draft beers anchor a spritzer terrace for those chasing summer in a glass. Breakfast-to-midnight options keep the energy steady as the program rolls on.
Stay the night, stay the weekend
If you’re planning to linger in Ópusztaszer, a trio of options waits in the trees and by the park. The Forest Guesthouses (Erdei Vendégházak) complex bundles a Wellness Guesthouse with a Family Guesthouse, offering rooms and apartments with polished rustic comfort in a calm, forest-adjacent setting. In town, a central guesthouse runs year-round with free parking and straightforward, tidy rooms for travelers who want easy access without fuss. Beside the Ópusztaszer National Historical Heritage Park, lodging spreads under shady trees inside the Pusztaszer Landscape Protection Area: tent and caravan pitches, wooden cabins, and apartments work well for families, friends, and student groups. For dining just 650 feet from the Heritage Park entrance, Szeri Csárda serves robust Hungarian flavors — from soups and kettle stews to fish, beef, Hungarian Grey Cattle, and Mangalica pork — plus oven-baked and vegetarian plates. The historic outlaw-inn decor adds a museum-like twist. Note: Szeri Csárda currently welcomes pre-booked groups only.
