Vasárnapi gyerekprogram is back at Zsilip, and it’s got a new name and fresh energy. The Zsiliputi Zsidó Vasárnapi Iskola is relaunching inside the Zsilip Center, the two-level playhouse with multiple study rooms at 1 Újpesti Embankment (Újpesti rakpart 1) in Budapest’s 13th District. The program welcomes kids and teens ages 4–14 every Sunday morning, reviving the beloved gatherings where hundreds spent their weekends playing, learning, and making memories together.
Sessions run Sundays, 10:00–12:15 (some notes also list 10:00–12:30). The team is young, upbeat, and ready to guide groups by age. The goal: prepare for Jewish holidays together, learn about mitzvot, explore traditions, and absorb the values that can shape a lifetime. Whether you’re little, already a teen, heading toward ifi status, or pre–Bar/Bat Mitzvah, this Sunday school is designed for you.
Who It’s For
The program is split into age groups with tailored activities.
I. Ages 4–6 – “Hullám Group” (Wave Group): games, crafts, and green themes. Every Sunday pops with discovery, stories, heroes, and hands-on creativity. In green colors and good vibes, Jewish stories come alive as the group turns into a true mini-community. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.
II. Ages 7–9: creativity, Jewish stories, games, and big energy. Expect crafts, tales, play, and a fantastic atmosphere starting in September, with as many smiling “little shells” as possible. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.
III. Ages 10–11 – Yam Group: community building, discovery, and cheerful workshops. Create, play, laugh, and explore with Jewish stories, crafts, and new friendships. The team is ready and can’t wait for shared Sundays. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.
IV. Ages 12–13 – Bar/Bat Mitzvah Club (BMC): community talks and projects. Fall Sundays kick off with positive energy, laughter, and good spirits. For those stepping toward adulthood, this club unpacks what it means to become an official member of the community. Expect discussions on Jewish values and traditions, personal questions, games, crafts, collaborative thinking, experiential programs, creative challenges, and project tasks. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.
V. Ages 13–14 – MKZ Group: training future madrichim (youth leaders). Week by week, participants learn how to lead by example and support younger kids. Topics include children’s needs and development, and how madrichim can help—always with a great mood and a Jewish spirit. Time: Sundays 10:00–12:15.
