
Gödöllő rolls out a packed, all-ages cultural calendar in 2026, anchored by the Royal Palace of Gödöllő (Gödöllői Királyi Kastély) and the House of Arts Gödöllő (Művészetek Háza Gödöllő). Expect festivals, concerts, theater, summer recitals, exhibitions, family days, museum education sessions, children’s camps, and outdoor walks across multiple venues in the 2100 Gödöllő area. May highlights: May Day fair, family theater, choral nights
May 1 brings two crowd-pleasers: Kedves Idám! — a special guided walk exploring front gardens around Gödöllő — and the lively Gödöllő May Day Fair (Gödöllői Majális). The garden walk returns May 2, joined by Ervin Lázár’s The Square Round Forest (A Négyszögletű Kerek Erdő), a children’s play by Scene Műhely. On May 3, Zoltán Miller performs a Mother’s Day concert at the Royal Palace, while “Kutykurutty!” serves up a frog-themed puppet tale for kids the same day.
On May 4, Ferenc Molnár’s Olympia takes the stage at the House of Arts. Tickets run 5,900 HUF (about USD 16). May 9 is for families: interactive “Storytelling Suites” museum workshops at the Royal Palace, plus an outdoor walk on birds and plants in the palace park. That evening, Spring Ode (Tavaszi óda) blends chorus and verse with the Gödöllő City Mixed Choir and Club Theatre, tickets 3,000 HUF (about USD 8).
May 10 features Inversedance’s VUK children’s dance play as part of the “Gödöllő 60” Theatre Festival (4,900 HUF / ~USD 13). On May 11, “Mama, look!” offers baby-friendly guided tours at the Palace, while Play Krúdy! keeps the “Gödöllő 60” banner flying at the House of Arts (3,900–5,900 HUF / ~USD 10–16). On May 17, mezzo-soprano Klára Csordás and Quartetto Speranza perform at the Palace, while Cimbaliband20 celebrates two decades at the House of Arts (5,000 HUF / ~USD 13).
Comedy lands May 19 with Ádám Kiss’s solo show I Won’t Say It! (Mit nem mondok!), hosted by Orsolya Sipos at Dumaszínház in the House of Arts (10,890–12,890 HUF / ~USD 29–34). The “Gödöllő 60” festival returns May 23 with Quattro Stagioni | Many Ways (3,900–4,900 HUF / ~USD 10–13) and Club Theatre’s The No. 7 General Store (A 7. számú vegyesbolt) at 2,000 HUF (~USD 5). Summer at the Palace: big names, walkabout theater, festivals
June opens with a heavyweight: Gábor Presser in concert on June 4 at the Royal Palace, joined by Ibolya Oláh and Tamás Szabó. Made in Hungária, the feel-good mega-musical, lights up the Palace on June 5. Scene Műhely’s roaming Walkabout Theater with Romeo and Juliet (Sétálószínház Rómeóval és Júliával) takes over Gödöllő on June 6, with more dates through August. The Palace hosts “Storytelling Suites” again June 6, themed around Royal Coronations, and a full Coronation Weekend runs June 6–7. Scene Műhely’s The Square Round Forest returns June 7. “Mama, look!” baby tours are back June 8.
Molière’s Tartuffe plays multiple Palace dates on June 19 and 28, and later on September 6, 13, and 20, plus October 8 and 30. Club Theatre repeats The Lucky One on June 13 (two performances) and What’s the Worm on June 20 (all 2,000 HUF / ~USD 5). On June 21, pianist Csilla Szentpéteri and band present The Aerialist and Me (A Légtornász és én) at the Palace. June 27 brings Forever Flamenco! (Mindörökké flamenco!), a live-music dance show direct from Andalusia.
Kids can dive into summer day camps at the Palace: Elemér and Friends (Elemér és barátai) runs June 29–July 3, followed by Castle Adventure Camp (Kastélykaland tábor) July 20–24. On July 2, ICONS RockSymphonic lines up 15 female artists and 15 global hits at the Palace.
Sisi Summer Theatre and open-air cinema
Sisi Summer Theatre kicks off July 9 with a Peter Šrámek concert, continues July 17 with “Love Me That Way” (Szeress úgy), a summer show by Károly Nyári, and stages Eric Chappell’s Spanish Flu (Spanyolhátha) on July 18. Scene Műhely’s The Square Round Forest returns July 19. July 25 hosts an Apostol concert. Open-air cinema lands in the Palace gardens with Mamma Mia on July 26, then Beauty and the Beast on August 9. Térzene, a free brass-and-bandshell concert, fills the Palace park August 3. The walkabout Romeo and Juliet continues July 31, August 5, 6, and 13.
Autumn encores and year-end music
Beyond the September–October Tartuffe dates, a Film Music Concert sweeps into the Palace on November 15, setting up a warm glide into winter. Families get one last story-time treat on December 13 as Scene Műhely brings back The Square Round Forest.

Try a Filipino-Hungarian fusion spot with themed lunch menus; the vintage-tinged Caravella Cafe for specialty coffee, house cakes, and dog-friendly vibes; and a cocktail-forward kitchen serving traditional and international plates, Belgian Hoegaarden on tap, and France’s Monin-based lemonades. Craving backyard classics? A grill-and-barbecue restaurant blends American and Mexican favorites with a big summer terrace and live-fire shows. Solier Cafe in the city center lays on chef-driven creations and a patisserie offering heirloom-recipe cakes and modern, fruit-forward desserts, plus diabetic options and ice creams. Custom, cream-filled cakes can also be made to order across town.
