2026 marks another packed season for the Ópusztaszer National Historical Heritage Park, where history isn’t just displayed—it’s lived. The Kalandos Emlékhely (Adventurous Heritage Site) program series returns with hands-on, curiosity-led events designed to turn the museum setting into an experience. Each month brings fresh themes and interactive activities, so even repeat visitors discover something new every time they come.
From guided workshops and living-history demos to family chill zones set up in traditional yurts, the park invites you to ask questions, touch the tools, taste the bread, and test the crafts. Experts are on hand to talk through techniques and context while you try your own hand at the work that once defined everyday life on the Great Hungarian Plain. If you’re after a family-friendly cultural escape where the past feels close enough to hold, Ópusztaszer is a summer essential.

The big draw is participation. Visitors become part of the scene—learning to felt wool, watching woodcarving up close, tasting oven-fresh country loaves, or practicing scything in the fields. The park’s staff and tradition keepers lead the way with relaxed, open conversations about methods and history, from the rhythm of pastoral life to the art of turning grain into flour.
