Tiszafüred 2026: Festivals, Races, Night Markets

Tiszafüred 2026 events guide: festivals, ultra runs, cycling, night markets, concerts, heritage days, and Advent by Lake Tisza. Plan stays, spas, dining, and family activities in Hungary’s lakeside hub.
dónde: 5350 Tiszafüred

Tiszafüred turns 2026 into a year-long playground around Lake Tisza, Hungary’s second-largest lake. The town doubles down on culture, sport, food, and family fun, with events spilling across squares, museums, markets, and the shoreline. Think cycling around the lake, ultra runs, late-summer concerts, heritage days, and Advent weekends that end with candlelight on the Main Square. Here’s the calendar you’ll want to pin, plus where to sleep and eat between swims, spa sessions, and sunset strolls.

Spring warm-up: quizzes, wheels, crafts

May starts light and lively. On May 8, a Quiz Night lands at the Kérész Eco and Active Tourism Center, a friendly kick-off for locals and visitors. A day later, May 9 rolls out bikes in a big way: the BorsodChem Tour de Tisza-tó takes over Halas Square, while Tour de Tisza-tó invites riders to circle the full lake in a season-defining challenge. The same day, Míves Műhely runs a hands-on craft workshop, and Alfa Romeo Club Hungary (Alfa Romeo Club Magyarország) revs into town with the Selenia Rally (Selénia Rally), hosted at Tisza Balneum Hotel on the waterfront.
On May 15, the family favorite Be an Archaeologist! museum education program opens at Temple Hill (Templom-domb) and Morotvapart in Tiszaörvény, blending fresh air with dig-site thrills. The Lake Tisza Producers’ and Makers’ Market returns on May 17, while Kérész Activity at the Eco Center adds outdoor games and discovery on May 22. Between May 22–23, Made in Hungária lights up the stage at Gyula Fényi Jesuit High School (Fényi Gyula Jezsuita Gimnázium). On May 23, bring the grandparents for a cross-generational museum adventure at the László Darabos Ethnographic and Local History Exhibition (Darabos László Néprajzi és Helytörténeti Kiállítás). Children’s Day on May 31 wraps the month in kid-led joy.

Early summer: engines, heritage, and night at the museum

June 4 marks the Day of National Unity at Halas Square. Motorheads get their fix on June 6 with the second Tiszafüred American Car and Tuning Meet, including a showcase at Halas Square. Archaeology returns June 13 with a volunteer community dig at Tiszaörvény. On June 20, Night of Museums becomes a full family day at the Endre Tariczky Archaeological Exhibition (Tariczky Endre Régészeti Kiállítás). The Producers’ and Makers’ Market pops up again June 21, and from June 26–28, Summer Evening Concerts bring live music to the Main Square as sunsets hit the facades just right. On June 27, the Bring Grandma and Grandpa to the Museum family tour continues at the Endre Tariczky collection.

Peak season: ultra runs, lake fests, DJs

From July 3–5, the Ultra Lake Tisza Running Race (Ultra Tisza-tó) takes over paths and causeways, a marquee endurance event that tests legs and rewards with lake views. July 9–11, Tisza-tó Fest delivers peak-summer festival energy. Markets return July 19, and from July 31–August 2, the Festival of Hungarian Lakes celebrates Lake Tisza (Tisza-tó) with music and lakeside vibes. On August 8, the Sport Selector at the B.G.V. Sports Hall helps kids and adults try new disciplines. From August 13–16, DJ Tour Fest hits the Morotva Peninsula with electronic beats under open skies. The market cycles back August 16.

August 20 trifecta: cars, family, foundation day

August 20 is packed: another American Car and Tuning Meet revs up Halas Square, families head to the László Darabos museum for a shared discovery tour, and the national holiday, the Day of the Foundation of the State, fills Tiszafüred with ceremonies and community. From August 20–22, Summer Evening Concerts return to the Main Square for an encore. August 30 closes the month with Tiszavég Day (Tiszavégi nap).

Harvest to heritage: autumn on foot

On September 11, Be an Archaeologist! is back at Tiszaörvény. September 18 brings a harvest-themed museum program for kindergarteners and primary students at the Gáspár Nyúzó Pottery Folk House (Nyúzó Gáspár Fazekas Tájház), and the Producers’ and Makers’ Market keeps autumn tastes flowing the same day. A dance house fills the Tisza-tavi AMI Headquarters on September 25, followed by another volunteer archaeology day September 26. World Tourism Day, September 27, tips a hat to travelers and hosts alike.
October opens with the Memorial Day of the Martyrs of Arad on October 6. On October 23, families circle up at the Kiss Pál Museum for the Bring Grandma and Grandpa tour and gather for 1956 commemorations. The market returns October 25, keeping the larder full and crafts alive.

Lanterns, saints, and Advent light

November 4 sets a torchlit march through town. November 7 hosts a Remembrance Day volunteer family event at the Old Cemetery. On November 11, the St. Martin’s Day museum program at the Endre Tariczky Archaeological Exhibition welcomes little ones. Markets spice up November 15 and 28, while dance fans get another dance house on November 21. Advent crafting sessions unfold November 27 and December 11 at Endre Tariczky, with the city lighting the first candle on the Main Square November 29, launching Tiszafüred Advent from November 29 to December 20.

December: Mikulás, dance, and a 19th-century Christmas

On December 4, Mikulás in the Museum delights kids at the Kiss Pál Museum. The second Advent candle is lit December 6, and on December 12, From Luca to Epiphany brings the Tisza-tavi AMI Youth Dance Ensemble to the stage. An Advent producers’ and craft fair runs December 12–13, before the third candle is lit December 13. A 19th-century Christmas program wraps children in tradition on December 18 at Kiss Pál, and the fourth candle closes the circle on December 20 at the Main Square.

Where to stay: water, trees, and thermal ease

Sleep afloat, on stilts, or up in the canopy at Kormorán Marina, offering floating houses, pile houses, and water huts, plus tree-nest stays for off-grid calm. Tisza Balneum Hotel sits right on the water with modern comfort, spa serenity, and conference-ready spaces; its two-story stilted apartments are ideal for big families and friend groups craving lake views. Albatrosz Marina pairs one of the town’s major boat harbors with a 21,528 sq ft camping area, a private strand, water-sport rentals, a restaurant, and easy access to the thermal and medicinal baths. Dieter’s Camping faces the Tiszafüred beach and thermal spa, just 164 ft from Lake Tisza, with a refreshed kitchen and tightened cleaning standards. Diófa Apartments and multiple family-friendly guesthouses sit in quiet green zones close to the water; one sleeps up to 15 across three fully equipped units, with shaded gardens and self-catering ease. Steps from the thermal beach (164 ft), serviced apartments offer AC, microwave, fridge, and TV, with indoor-outdoor cooking, secure parking, three supermarkets and three restaurants within 1,640 ft, wellness 492 ft away, and the lakeshore a five-minute walk. The Black Stork Yard (Fekete Gólya Porta) preserves traditional architecture with two houses linked by a covered common space. Between Tiszafüred and Hortobágy, the Gólyavár guesthouses in Kócsújfalu sit at the western gate of Hortobágy National Park—Lake Tisza is a 15-minute drive one way, the Nine-Arch Bridge the other—ringed by rich prairie wildlife and storks.

Where to eat: lake views, local plates, craft brews

Platán Restaurant (Platán Étterem) blends regional and international flavors with a knockout lakeside terrace and summer grill deck—arrive for sunset and stay for dessert. Molnár Inn at Füzes Guesthouse (Molnár Vendéglő a Füzes Panzióban) serves Hungarian and global favorites all year in the self-styled capital of Lake Tisza. In the city center, a homestyle spot plates local, down-to-earth menus at friendly prices. For beer lovers, NOPARA GyógySERtár combines microbrewery, pub, restaurant, and apartments, with daily à la carte breakfasts. Old-school fish recipes shine at Öreg Halász, where Tisza specialties have a loyal following. Out by Route 33 near the western gate of Hortobágy National Park, a rustic restaurant and covered garden pour Hungarian flavors amid open-plain views.
Make room in your weekend bag: bikes, swimsuits, curiosity, and a big appetite. Tiszafüred is loaded all year.
