May Highlights
May 28: Tamás Rist takes the stage with the Budapest–Bamako rally. Once aimed at Bamako, Mali, the route shifted to Freetown, Sierra Leone, due to unrest. The journey runs over 5,592 miles, and African roads can be brutal. Location: Kistarcsa.
May 31: Heroes’ Day (Hősök Napja) at Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere), Kistarcsa, honoring national heroes.
June: Memory, Trails, Taste, Craft
June 4: László Nagy revisits the Trianon events. On June 4, 1920, at the Grand Trianon in Versailles, a treaty amputated roughly two-thirds of historical Hungary’s territory. The settlement set the terms with occupying Czechoslovak, Serbian, and Romanian forces. Kistarcsa.
June 5: Commemoration for Miklós Király. Son of Andor Király, director of the Kistarcsa Machine and Railway Equipment Factory, Miklós died in a motorcycle accident in Mátyásföld on June 4, 1926. Marking the 100th anniversary with wreath-laying and family history. Kistarcsa.
June 11: Erzsébet Pancsor on the Blue Trail (Kéktúra). No age or time limit; completion is open-ended from your first stamp. It’s not an extreme adventure—anyone can walk it with basic gear. Expect vistas that make lasting memories. Kistarcsa.
June 18: Ildikó Obsitos on wine jam (borlekvár). Wine jam captures aroma and flavor without alcohol, perfect for those who don’t drink and for wine lovers who want it in food. Made like traditional jam, but from wine, not fruit. Kistarcsa.
June 20–21: Exhibition of Kistarcsa artisans at Csigaház, Kistarcsa.
June 25: Ágnes Kóczián: The Many Faces of Peru. A three-week journey from Inca heritage to the Amazon rainforest, with impressions from Lima, Cusco, and Iquitos. Kistarcsa.
