July 18: MiniPianoFest under the summer sky
Saturday, July 18, 7:00 PM, Eötvös Károly Library inner courtyard. A special summer evening where pianos and poets shape the mood. Modern classical pieces, slow melodies, and delicate harmonies fill the open courtyard, where nature, silence, and music meet. Sink into a beanbag with a drink, listen to gentle electronics, sketch, read, or simply daydream as the city noise fades and time slows. If it rains, the concert moves indoors. Free entry.
Three exceptional pianists set the tone, and literature steps onstage too. The goal: blend contemporary piano performance with literary interludes to create a cross‑genre evening. Between musical sets, brief readings echo the mood and themes of the pieces, deepening the library’s cultural mission.
Performers include CHARMEY (Marc Charmet), a Paris‑trained, Budapest‑based French pianist‑composer whose modern classical and ambient work carries the spirit of Erik Satie, Yann Tiersen, and Nils Frahm—minimal yet emotionally rich, full of space and silence. His debut, Monotonies, arrived in 2024, followed by Délicates in March 2025 on Siril Records. Founder of the Le Salon de Musique concert series, he often improvises live, guided by the audience’s quiet focus and the room’s atmosphere. Reading: Anna Bognár—ELTE and University of Debrecen alumna, scholar of Giacomo Leopardi, prize‑winning poet and researcher, contributor to the Babits critical edition, author of the 2016 collection Nem dajka dal (Not a Lullaby), currently a Hungarian Academy of Arts fellow studying Miklós Hubay’s oeuvre.
Also featured: Vienna‑based pianist‑composer and media composer Flora Kapeller, inspired by Hania Rani, Tigran Hamasyan, Hildur Guðnadóttir, and Ludwig Göransson. And contemporary pianist‑performer Andor Sanderson leads a music‑literature evening—piano and ambient textures inviting inner quiet, presence, and a gentle inward journey where words and sounds merge into a softly undulating shared space. Reading: Mercédesz Kónya.
Veszprém keeps it cultural—talks, tunes, pages, and play—all season long at Komakút Square (Komakút tér) 3.
