Veszprém turns its Castle Quarter into a moonlit cultural playground on Saturday, June 20, 2026, as the Night of Museums returns with guided walks, hands-on workshops, an evening garden opening, and after-hours access to sacred spaces. From daytime to late evening, visitors can dip in and out of programs at the Queen Gisela Museum (Gizella Királyné Múzeum) and the Archdiocese of Veszprém, turning a quiet hilltop into an intimate, thrilling inner journey.
Guided walks through sacred Veszprém
Highlights include Light and Devotion, a guided walk weaving through the Archbishop’s Palace and the Gisela Chapel (Gizella-kápolna); The Road of a Thousand Years, a tour circling St. Michael’s Cathedral and its historic spaces; and In the Footsteps of the Bells, special after-hours walks that lead guests through the cathedral by night. The cathedral’s hush, the crypt’s centuries-old walls, and the city panorama from the bell tower take on a new glow under summer skies.
Biró–Giczey House after hours
The Biró–Giczey House at 31 Vár Street (Vár utca 31) will extend its opening hours for the night, and its Baroque garden will stay open into the evening. Space on guided walks is limited; full schedules and participation details will be posted in the final program. Expect the Castle Quarter to show a different face at night—spaces you think you know feel utterly transformed after dusk.
