Balatonfüred is packing the calendar with festivals, concerts, culture, food, family fun, and a flotilla of lake cruises across multiple venues. Tickets for many programs are available online, and the lineup stretches from early June well into August with big-name comedy, classical gems, design talks, yoga on the promenade, and the country’s marquee sailing races.
June kicks off with books, boats, and jazz
From June 8–12, sightseeing cruises trace the shoreline, while the city’s cinema program runs June 8–14. On June 12 at 18:00, the House of Jewish Excellence hosts Living Among Us, featuring guest Mihály Pósfai, professor, academic, and geologist from the University of Pannonia. June 12–13 brings the Book-Wine-Jazz Festival (Könyv–Bor–Jazz), pairing literature, wine, and live jazz across town.
June 13 is packed: an evening with TV host Gabriella Jakupcsek at Anna Grand Hotel (free entry; table reservations advised); the Literary Fashion Salon with novelist Virág Vass at the Katti Zoób Fashion Museum at 17:00; the sixth From Alpha to Omega Family Picnic; and fresh rounds of lake excursions June 13–14. The same weekend, Pole Artistic Hungary hosts an international pole dance and aerial competition, showcasing pole art, glamour, hoop, and hammock categories—think breathtaking strength, elegance, and artistry where gravity is just a detail.
Yoga by the lake and summer openings
June 15–18 brings more sightseeing cruises, with the cinema rolling June 15–21. International Yoga Day lands June 17 at 17:30 on Tagore Promenade by the Széchenyi Statue. On June 18, the Bem Memorial Choir teams up with Gabriella Csikhon and Attila Sári for a Welcome Summer concert.
Art fans: June 19 at 17:00, the Arács Community House (62 Lóczy Lajos St.) opens graphic artist Milán Takács’s From Matter to Light, introduced by museum educator Orsolya Nyitrai, with electronic/folktronica–downtempo by Holb Levente “Zsörk.” The show spans paper-based but digitally crafted collages, experimental images, design work (posters, logos), and analog photos, viewable through August 24 during opening hours (Mon, Thu 10:00–16:00; Wed 12:00–16:00).
The same evening at 18:00, the Huray Villas open Andrea Weichinger’s Cloud and Water – Contemplation in the Landscape, followed by a free concert by guitarist Nick Thorpe. Free companion events at Huray: June 20, 9:00 yoga and breathwork with the artist; June 26, 18:00 Folly Arboretum show-and-tell in the gallery; September 18, 18:00 architect Miklós Weichinger on Balaton architecture; September 25, 17:00 BBC correspondent Nick Thorpe talks about the Carpathians and the Danube via his books and films. The exhibit is free until September 27 during Tourinform’s opening hours.
Stand-up heat, sunset decks, and Museum Night
Boat trips run June 19–21. On June 20, the Chill Boat sails at sunset with lake panoramas, smooth music, and cocktails. Also June 20: Museum Night takes over Balatonfüred, and Fairy-Tale Picnic – Stories in the Grass (Mesepiknik) at Huray Villas at 18:00 features tales by Benedek Elek and Zsuzsanna Czipri (stories from Czipri’s book; storyteller Edit Szabadi). The Balatonfüred International Guitar Festival strums June 20–27.
Comedy lights up June 20 at 19:00: stand-up stars Eszter Ráskó and András Péter Kovács hit the Dumaszínház stage at the Balaton Leisure and Conference Center; tickets 9,590 HUF (about $26). More cruises June 22–25; cinema June 22–28; and weekend rides June 26–28. On June 27, join the Rabbi of Füred city walk and synagogue tour, including the House of Jewish Excellence. Another Chill Boat sails June 27 at sunset.
July: sailing, salsa, theater, and a comedy marathon
Sightseeing cruises: June 29–July 2; cinema June 29–July 5. July 1 features organist Gergely Rákász – Mozart at the Lutheran Church (5,990 HUF, about $16). July 3–5 brings more lake excursions. July 4 serves TuRajó – Füred Bike Adventure and TuRajó Walks – From Tree to Forest (each 3,900 HUF, about $11), plus another Chill Boat. Cruises and cinema run July 6–12 as the Hungarian Summer Salsa Festival grooves July 7–13. Party Boats depart July 9 and 16 from the harbor.
July 10–12: the first Hungarian International Klezmer Festival. July 11 anchors the Allianz Bay Crossing and SUP Challenge, plus a Chill Boat at sunset. Cruises and cinema July 13–19. Outdoor theater hits July 14 with Hyppolit, the Butler, a musical comedy in two acts on the Open-Air Stage (5,900 HUF, about $16).

August pours wine, wind, and tribute nights
August 1 features both a Chill Boat and a Kids’ Boat. Cinema and cruises return August 3–9, with Party Boat on August 6. The Hungarian Sailing Federation’s Big Boat Championship races August 6–9. On August 7, join the Rabbi-led synagogue and city tour, and raise a glass as Balatonfüred Wine Weeks open August 7–30 along the promenade with top producers and tastings. August 8 repeats the Chill Boat and Kids’ Boat combo.
Cinema and cruises run August 10–16. August 11 brings The Jungle Book on the Pannon Castle Theatre’s outdoor stage (8,500 HUF, about $23), while August 12 stages The Wife Starts at Forty on the Open-Air Stage (8,900–10,900 HUF, about $24–$30). Party Boat returns August 13. On August 14, the Crazy Little Queen Tribute Band rocks the Balaton Leisure and Conference Center’s Open-Air Stage (9,990–11,990 HUF, about $27–$32).
