Budapest’s Lurdy Ház, at 1097 Budapest, 9th District – Ferencváros, 12–14 Könyves Kálmán Boulevard (Könyves Kálmán körút), is lining up a year where weekends blur into festivals and weekdays don’t dare feel ordinary. The complex is pitching itself as a one-stop cultural sprawl: kids’ programs, theater, concerts, family days, exhibitions, expos, professional conferences, and festivals roll through with clockwork regularity. Film lovers get a weekly refresh at Lurdy Cinema (Lurdy Mozi); collectors and hobbyists find their tribes; and families get a sprawling build-and-play escape that’s many times bigger and bolder than before. Dates and programs may change—organizers reserve the right to tweak the schedule—so double-check before you go.
June 1–7: Films and Exotic Creatures
The week starts with Lurdy Cinema rolling out a new lineup under the banner New week, new films, new experiences. Expect a mix calibrated for all ages: animated tales for kids, fresh dramas and comedies for adults, and that shared big-screen buzz for everyone. On Sunday, June 7, TerraPlaza – International Exotic Animal Exhibition and Fair brings the wild right to the mall. The 63rd edition promises a day up close with nature’s marvels, mixing wonder with responsible pet-keeping and plenty of expert passion. Meet rare species, talk to specialists, and immerse yourself in scaly, feathery, and beautifully unusual worlds—all in Budapest.
June 8–21: Movies on Repeat, Plus a Healing Stage
From June 8–14 and again June 15–21, Lurdy Cinema keeps cycling in fresh titles, leaning into that weekly ritual: the best films in one place, stories for kids, films for grown-ups, a shared experience for all. On June 14, the stage pivots to self-transformation with Who You’ll Be After the Breakup (Aki a szakítás után leszel) – Show Workshop, a one-day event in Budapest devoted to life after a breakup. Tickets range from about $25 to $35, and the promise is blunt but hopeful: step into who you’ll become next.
June 18–September 20: Kockakiállítás 2026 Takes Over
Then comes the juggernaut. Kockakiállítás 2026 claims to be twice as big and three times better than last year, and it shows up in long, week-spanning blocks from mid-June to late September. Imagine nearly 10 million LEGO bricks, life-size builds, and interactive fun taking over halls week after week. The drawcards are loud and clear:
– Life-size supermodels, including premiere pieces. Full-scale LEGO works you can only see here. Stand beside them. Snap the photo. This may be your only chance.
– A massive playhouse to build, create, and play. It’s open season on creativity for kids and adults alike, a space to free-build, tinker, and dive into shared family fun.
This is more than an exhibition—it’s an experience designed to inspire, dazzle, and recharge. The run spans June 18–21, June 22–28, June 29–July 5, July 6–12, July 13–19, July 20–26, July 27–August 2, August 3–9, August 10–16, August 17–23, August 24–30, August 31–September 6, and September 7–13. It returns once more from September 7–13 for an encore run alongside films, then gives way to more cinema-only weeks from September 14–20. Through all of this, Lurdy Cinema continues its weekly cadence, refreshing the slate every Monday like a metronome for moviegoers.
September–October: Cinema Keeps the Beat
Movie weeks roll on: September 14–20, September 21–27, September 28–October 4, October 5–11, October 12–18, and October 19–25 all bring that same dependable formula—new titles, kid-friendly picks, and communal screenings where the popcorn is part of the point. The habit continues October 26–November 1 and November 2–8, as Lurdy Cinema anchors evenings and rainy days with fresh reasons to sit in the dark with strangers and feel something together.
November: Beauty Pros, Franchises, and Fountain Pens
November gets niche in the best way. On November 6, Beauty Forum 2026 unites the beauty industry for the 34th year running. It’s part annual reunion, part learning lab: discover innovations, swap experience, and reconnect. The invitation is warm and unpretentious—come in November to learn, brainstorm, laugh, and hug. Let this tradition live on.
On November 19, the Hungarian Franchise Expo (Magyar Franchise Expo) brings over 600 participants into the halls, including entrepreneurs and the franchise-curious. Forty exhibitors from small to large networks across every sector set up shop, while ten talks dive into franchise and business themes. If scaling, licensing, or joining a network is on your mind, this is your scouting day.
November 21 is for the paper-and-ink faithful. The Hungary Pen Show turns Lurdy Ház into a haven for fountain and ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, inks, and exquisite papers. It’s hands-on: try writing instruments, sample inks, test paper, and mingle with collectors, stationery fans, and both Hungarian and international figures from the writing world. The day bottles the joy of analog creation, the tactile calm of handwriting, and the pleasure of a shared obsession—unmissable for anyone who loves fine tools and premium paper.
Late November into December: Talks and Year-End Cinema
On November 27, Tvrtko – Chernobyl 40 (Csernobil 40) delivers an exclusive talk in Budapest, reflecting on four decades since Chernobyl. Tickets are about $24, fixed price. It’s a sober, compelling evening for those who want history told by a voice that’s been confronting it up close. The final stretch belongs once more to the movies: November 9–15, November 16–22, November 23–29, November 30–December 6, December 7–13, December 14–20, December 21–27, and December 28–January 3, 2027. Each week, new films, new stories, and the same promise—shared experiences for everyone.
Dates and programs are subject to change. Plan ahead, and then be ready to improvise. That’s part of the Lurdy Ház charm.
