Farce, Rock Opera, And A Classic Reborn
2026.07.03. Neil Simon: Rumors – a two-act farce where watching gossip ricochet through the upper crust is half the fun and all the chaos. Lean back, follow the tangled lies, and enjoy the elite in elite-level trouble.
2026.07.04. István, a király (Stephen, the King) – concert. Hungary’s most famous rock opera returns on a monumental anniversary tour with star vocalists from the original stage tradition, the Crescendo Orchestra, and top-tier lighting, visuals, and animation. Expect towering moving set pieces and full-bore pyrotechnics.
2026.07.07. Dés László – Geszti Péter – Grecsó Krisztián: A Pál utcai fiúk (The Paul Street Boys). The classic lands with tougher edges, told as clashes among young men rather than children, amped up by contemporary sounds and lyrics. The production leans on acoustic object-work, the actors’ musical-rhythmic spark, youthful energy and humor, and the source material’s cathartic punch.
2026.07.08. A Pál utcai fiúk – a two-act staging of the same powerhouse material, doubling down on the dramatic stakes and modern musical texture.
Family Favorites And Bold Laughs
2026.07.12. A dzsungel könyve (The Jungle Book). Mowgli’s search for happiness and the beating heart of friendship and love make this a must for kids and the young at heart alike.
2026.07.15. Jeanie Linders: Menopause The Musical. That inevitable chapter in every woman’s life, faced out loud—honest and hilarious. No euphemisms, just belting comedy and knowing nods.
Pop Craft And A Sitcom Legend On Stage
2026.07.19. Geszti Péter in concert. The frontman of positive energy raids his songbook: arena-ready Rapülők dance hits, the funk of Jazz+Az, Gringó Sztár touches, and gleaming pop from Létvágy—live band, big visuals, sharp humor, and frank lyrics.
2026.07.21–22. Csengetett, Mylord? (You Rang, M’Lord?) – world premiere at the Mézesvölgyi Open-Air Stage (Mézesvölgyi Szabadtéri Színpad). The TV cult lands onstage with beloved characters brought to life for a warm, laugh-heavy summer evening in Veresegyház.
West End Wit, Fur-Salon Farce
2026.07.26. Steven Moffat: The Unfriend – two-act comedy. On a cruise, polite couple Peter and Debbie befriend Elsa, an American widow. Back home, her announced visit collides with alarming online discoveries. Do they let her in around their teenagers without being rude? Add a nosy neighbor and a sergeant for spiraling hilarity. Fresh from London’s West End, now landing at Játékszín in Budapest and playing in Veresegyház.
2026.07.28. Ne most, Drágám! (Not Now, Darling!) – a vintage door-slamming romp in London’s most elegant fur salon: love triangles, mink coats, scantily clad surprises, outfits flying out the window—total mayhem, zero apologies.
Swinging America And Timeless Voices
2026.07.31. Amerikai komédia (American Comedy) – a swing musical based on Károly Aszlányi’s 1930s play. Libretto and lyrics by Attila Lőrinczy, music by Artisjus- and Fonogram-winning Bálint Bársony. Directed by Károly Peller, the show sprints from start to finish on humor, momentum, and big-band verve.
2026.08.01. Csak egy tánc volt – the most beautiful songs of Pál Szécsi under the stars. Performers: Zoltán Miller, Dénes Pál, Attila Serbán, and Sándor Nagy.
Poirot, Italian Sun, And Festival Headliners
2026.08.05. Az Ackroyd gyilkosság (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd) – mystery. Hercule Poirot retires to sleepy King’s Abbot… until two inexplicable deaths wake the village right up. Artúr Kálid stars as Poirot, with P. Szilveszter Szabó as Dr. James Sheppard in Agatha Christie’s twist-laden classic.
2026.08.07. Anconai szerelmesek (Lovers of Ancona) – a musical comedy that’s become a mainstay of Hungarian stages, blending Italian commedia flair with homegrown humor and the 1970s’ greatest Italian hits.
2026.08.08. Quimby in concert. One of the festival’s crown jewels: the band’s singular sound and signature anthems promise a summer-night high in Veresegyház’s open air.
Return To The ’80s, And A Bel Canto Breeze
2026.08.11. Anconai szerelmesek a Balatonon (Lovers of Ancona at Lake Balaton) – decades later, our Italian company arrives in Hungary’s 1989 heat, chasing roots, rekindled loves, and some peace. In the Balaton SZOT resort under Comrade Békés’s watch, expect comedy in bulk and bel canto favorites like Azzurro, Bella ciao, and Sono un italiano.
Life Stories, Messy Hills, And A Classic Escape
2026.08.15. Egy életem – biographical stand-up with Imre Csuja. He talks about his mother directing his childhood, the early career grind, doing four shows a day, what he learned from the greats, meeting his wife over 40 years ago, and behind-the-scenes tales from film staples Glass Tiger (Üvegtigris) and A Kind of America (Valami Amerika).
2026.08.18. Túl a Maszat-hegyen (Beyond Smudge Hill) – a musical comedy questing through a world where grime is order and tidying is chaos. Muhi Andris fights splats, dusters, and uncompromising neat freaks. Color, magic, and earworms for kids and grownups alike—where even vacuums can switch sides.
From The Alps To The Neoton Summer
2026.08.22. A muzsika hangja (The Sound of Music) – the 1930s-set tale of Maria, a novitiate who brings joy and song to a naval captain’s seven children as history’s storm gathers. Big emotions, singable melodies, real stakes. A family choice from the littlest to the grandparents.
2026.08.26. Szép nyári nap (A Nice Summer Day) – the Neoton musical. Set in a 1970s youth work camp near the Yugoslav border, it looks back with humor and irony, powered by Neoton hits that still anchor a proper house party—generations be damned.
Ghosts In The Attic And An Operetta Blowout
2026.08.28. A Padlás (The Attic) – half-fairytale, half-musical in two acts for ages 9–99. In a mysterious attic, spirits and people meet to talk friendship, faith, and the power of dreams. Humor, music, and heartfelt moments for the entire family.
2026.08.29. Nem rongyos élet – újravarrva (Not a Ragged Life – Restitched) operetta gala. Last year they promised; this year they overdeliver. Giants of straight drama and operetta stars share the stage again to prove that Hungarian operetta—an official national treasure—belongs to everyone.
