Sail the Danube Bend in 2026 on the Szentendre–Leányfalu–Visegrád excursion route, a weekend cruise threading through dramatic river bends where nature and history meet. Summer’s low water can change routes and departure times, so check the website before you head out. Boats depart Szentendre Pier and return in the late afternoon, perfect for a full day ashore in Visegrád’s storied hills.

Leányfalu: Roman Echoes by Nyerges Hill
Between Szentendre and Tahitótfalu, Leányfalu sits at the foot of Nyerges Hill, where ancient finds prove Romans once patrolled. You can still see a Roman watchtower ruin on Móricz Zsigmond Street. After the Romans, records go quiet until the Hungarian conquest repopulated the area. The first document mentions it in 1407 as “Leanfalva.”
Tahitótfalu: Two Landscapes, One Stop
Leaving Leányfalu, the boat reaches Tahitótfalu, a twin-set village: Tahi climbs the Visegrád Hills’ slopes, while Tótfalu stretches over flat Szentendre Island. In season, boost the day with local strawberries. The town relies on both agriculture and tourism, with multiple restaurants and trailheads. From here you can join Pilis and Visegrád hikes; cyclists are well catered for, too.
Visegrád: Fortresses Above the Bend
Sailing on, the panorama tightens beneath Visegrád’s cliffs. Solomon’s Tower and the Visegrád Citadel crown the ridge, making the approach unforgettable. Explore, then hop the 16:40 return—back to Szentendre by 17:50 for an easy evening after a full-day river adventure.
