Budapest’s Óbuda Synagogue is turning Wednesday afternoons into a hands-on Jewish adventure for families. KiddieTime, a new weekly series for kids ages 3–10 and their parents, blends music, learning, play, and movement to make traditions feel alive. The free, registration-only sessions run 4:30–6:00 p.m. at 1036 Budapest, District 3 – Óbuda, 163 Lajos Street (Lajos utca 163).

Sing, Learn, Move

Each Wednesday opens with a family music circle filled with Hebrew songs, prayers, and melodies tied to the holidays. It’s equal parts sing-along and gentle introduction to liturgy, giving even the youngest participants an easy way in.

Stories Come to Life

Next up: the weekly Torah portion reimagined through drama pedagogy. Guided by a drama educator, kids dive into the stories with games, role-play, and creative making. It’s immersive, hands-on, and designed to deepen understanding through doing, not just listening.

Strength and Confidence

The afternoon closes with a high-energy Krav Maga session led by a coach with experience in Israel. Beyond physical skills, the class focuses on confidence, discipline, and building team spirit—key values woven throughout Jewish community life.

Who’s Behind It

KiddieTime is led by Zsuzsa Szilánk, EMIH’s head of education. Program coordination is by Miri Radó, with Jewish content curated by Petra Nagy. Families can request information and register online; spots are limited.
